ST ANTHONY OF THE KIEVAN CAVES
SS LEONTIUS, MAURICE, DANIEL, ANTHONY AND THE 45 HOLY MARTYRS OF NICAPOLIS IN ARMENIA
Troparion of St ANTHONY — Tone 4
Thou didst leave the tumult of the world to follow Christ according to the Gospel;/ thou didst lead a life equal to the Angels and reach the haven of Mount Athos./ From thence with thy fathers' blessing thou didst illumine thy fatherland at Kiev,/ where thou didst lead a multitude of monks along the path to Christ and His kingdom./ Pray to Him, O Saint Anthony, that He may save our souls.

Having departed from worldly tumults, / In leaving the world you followed Christ according to the Gospel. / You reached the quiet refuge of the Holy Mount Athos, / Living there a life equal to the angels. / Therefore, with the blessing of the Fathers, / You came to the Kievan hills. / There having fulfilled a life loving of labors, / You illumined your homeland. / And having shown a multitude of monastics / The pathway leading to the heavenly kingdom, / You led them to Christ. / Beseech him, O Venerable Anthony, / That he may save our souls!

You were chosen from on high as an army of sacred ranks,/ O Forty Five Martyrs of Christ./ You contested for the glory of Christ/ and by your struggle defeated polytheism./ We glorify Him Who has glorified you.

Your holy martyrs, O Lord, / through their suffering have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. / For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, / and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. / Through their intercessions save our souls!
Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ἅγιοι 45 Μάρτυρες — Ἦχος δ´ . Ταχύ προκατάλαβε
Οἱ Μάρτυρες σου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ ἀθλήσει αὐτῶν, τὸ στέφος ἐκομίσαντο τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐκ σοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν· σχόντες γὰρ τὴν ἰσχύν σου, τοὺς τυράννους καθεῖλον· ἔθραυσαν καὶ δαιμόνων τὰ ἀνίσχυρα θράση. Αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

Στρατὸς θεοσύλεκτος, παρεμβολὴ ἱερά, νομίμως ἀθλήσαντες ὑπὲρ τῆς δόξης Χριστοῦ, ἐν Πνεύματι ὤφθητε. Μάρτυρες τοῦ Κυρίου, Τεσσαράκοντα πέντε, λύσαντες δι’ ἀγώνων, τὴν πολύθεον πλάνην· διὸ ἡμῶν τοὺς ἀγῶνας, πάντες δοξάζομεν.

Thou didst surrender to God, having loved Him from thy childhood,/ and follow Him with all thy heart and soul, O Saint Anthony./ Thou didst despise worldly goods and live in a cave in the earth,/ fighting the good fight against the wiles of the enemy./ Having illumined the ends of the earth thou didst fly rejoicing to heaven/ where thou dost stand among the Angels before the throne of God;/ remember us who honour thee that we may cry: Rejoice, O Anthony our Father.

From your youth you gave yourself to God whom you loved above all, O Venerable One; / And in love you followed after him with your whole soul. / Scorning the passing corruption of the world, you made a cave in the earth; / And in it you struggled nobly facing the snares of the invisible enemy, / While illumining the ends of the earth like a bright, shining sun. / Therefore, with rejoicing you entered into the heavenly chambers. / Standing now before the throne of the Master together with the angels, / Remember us who honor your holy memory, / That we may cry out to you: Rejoice, Anthony our Holy Father!

You endured many torments for the sake of Christ, O Martyrs./ You destroyed idolatrous polytheism and godless error by Christ's power./ Teach us all to cry with faith: Alleluia.

Ὡς εὐσεβείας θεμέλιοι ἄρρηκτοι, οἱ Τεσσαράκοντα πέντε ἠρίστευσαν, ψυχῆς συμφωνίᾳ συνδούμενοι, καὶ ἐν σταδίῳ βοῶντες γηθόμενοι· Χριστὸς τῶν Μαρτύρων ὁ στέφανος.
