Afterfeast of TRANSFIGURATION
HOLY MARTYRS PHOTIOS AND ANICETOS
The Holy Twelve Soldier Martyrs of Crete
Troparion of the Feast — Tone 7
Thou wast transfigured on the mount, O Christ God,/ revealing Thy glory to Thy disciples as far as they could bear it./ Let Thine everlasting light shine upon us sinners/ through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Giver of Light, glory to Thee.
Troparion of the Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 3
United in the Faith, your nearness of kinship/ was made radiant by your divine struggles,/ O blessed Martyr Anicetos and Photios servant of Light./ Pray that those who hymn your holy contest/ may be granted the forgiveness of their sins.
Troparion of the Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 4
Your holy martyrs Anicetus and Photius, O Lord, / through their sufferings have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. / For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, / and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. / Through their intercessions, save our souls!
Troparion of Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 4
In their sufferings, O Lord,/ Thy martyrs received imperishable crowns from Thee our God;/ for, possessed of Thy might,/ they set at nought the tormentors and crushed the feeble audacity of the demons.// By their supplications save Thou our souls.
Troparion of Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 4
Thy Martyrs Photios and Aniketos, O Lord, in their courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since they possessed Thy strength, they cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by their prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful.
Apolytikion of 12 Martyrs — Tone 3
Divine and faithful symphony who assembled as one chorus, twelve in number, you bore away the trophy in Christ, and confounding the hostile authorities, you endured inconceivable tortures. Intercede for us with Christ who glorified you to grant us the great mercy.
●
Kontakion of the Feast — Tone 7
Thou wast transfigured on the mountain, O Christ our God,/ and Thy disciples beheld Thy glory as far as they were capable,/ that when they should see Thee crucified,/ they might know that Thy suffering was voluntary/ and might proclaim to the world/ that Thou art indeed the reflection of the Father.
Kontakion of Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 2
With anthems of praise, ye faithful, let us all extol the warriors of God, the yoke-pair of Christ's majesty; and let all of us who love martyrs' contests crown with our hymns of song the staunch heralds of piety, who truly were friends and lovers of our God.
Kontakion of Martyrs PHOTIOS and ANICETOS — Tone 3
When godly Photios saw thee contesting in the stadium,/ O Athlete Anicetos,/ he joined thee in the struggle and victoriously suffered all the torments./ Together with him intercede with Christ our God/ that He deliver us from all dangers.
Kontakion of 12 Martyrs — Plagal Tone 4
Twelve pious soldiers who joined together in an unbroken alliance with Christ, and suppressed the hostility of the enemies of God. Taking part in the joy of martyrdom, you protected Crete which nurtured you. So we cry out to you: Rejoice, victorious troops.
●
Megalynarion of 12 Martyrs
Rejoice, theology-speaking array of troops, in Crete you twelve hastened to carry away the trophy of victory. Rejoice, soldiers of the heavenly army and swift deliverers of those in great danger.
