The memory of Your prophets Zachariah and Elizabeth / We celebrate today, O Lord. / By their prayers, we beseech You, / O Christ God, save our souls!
Troparion of St ZACHARIAS — Tone 4
Robed in the vestments of the priesthood, / according to the Law of God you offered whole-burnt offerings in a sacred manner, wise Zachariah. / You became a luminary and a seer of the mysteries, / bearing within yourself the signs of grace, all-wise one. / Slain by the sword in the temple of God, O prophet of Christ, / intercede together with the Forerunner / that our souls may be saved.

Arrayed in priestly vestments, thou didst offer sacrifice according to God's law./ Thou wast a light and a seer of mysteries bearing the signs of grace within thee./ Thou wast slain in the temple of God,/ O Zacharias, Prophet of Christ./ Together with the Forerunner pray that our souls may be saved.

In the vesture of a priest, according to the Law of God,/ thou didst offer unto Him well-pleasing whole-burnt offerings,/ as it befitted a priest, O wise Zacharias./ Thou wast a shining light, a seer of mysteries,/ bearing in thyself clearly the signs of grace;/ and in God's temple, O wise Prophet of Christ God, thou wast slain with the sword.// Hence, with the Forerunner, make entreaty that our souls find salvation.

Ἱερωσύνης στολισμόν, περιβαλλόμενος σοφέ, κατὰ τὸν νόμον τοῦ Θεού, ὁλοκαυτώματα δεκτά, ἱεροπρεπῶς προσενήνοχας Ζαχαρία· καὶ γέγονας φωστήρ, καὶ θεατὴς μυστικῶν, τὰ σύμβολα ἐν σοί, τὰ τῆς χάριτος, φέρων ἐκδήλως πάνσοφε, καὶ ξίφει ἀναιρεθεὶς ἐν τῷ ναῷ τοῦ Θεοῦ, Χριστοῦ Προφῆτα, σὺν τῷ Προδρόμῳ, πρέσβευε σωθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

Θείου Πνεύματος, τῇ ἐπιπνοίᾳ, ἱεράτευσας, Θεῷ ἀμέμπτως, ἱερωσύνην νομικήν ἐνδυσάμενος· καὶ τὸν Σωτῆρα ἀσπόρως σαρκούμενον, Ἀνατολὴν τὴν ἐξ ὕψους ἐκήρυξας. Ἀλλὰ πρέσβευε, Ζαχαρία Προφῆτα ἔνδοξε, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Zacharias, Prophet and Priest and father of the Forerunner,/ is preparing a feast for the faithful/ and is mixing a draught of righteousness./ Let us praise him,/ as a holy seer of the grace of God.

Today the prophet Zachariah, priest of the Most High / and parent of the Forerunner, / has prepared a banquet to his memory to nourish the faithful, / mixing the drink of righteousness. / Therefore we praise him as a divine initiate of the grace of God.

On this day Zacharias, the prophet and venerable priest of the Most High,/ the father of the Forerunner,/ setteth the table of his memorial, feeding the faithful;/ for he hath distributed the food of righteousness unto all.// Wherefore, he hath reposed as a divine initiate of the mysteries of the grace of God.
Κοντάκιον. Προφήτης ΖΑΧΑΡΊΑΣ ― Ἦχος δ´ . Ἡ Παρθένος σήμερον
Ὁ Προφήτης σήμερον, καὶ ἱερεὺς τοῦ Ὑψίστου, Ζαχαρίας προύθηκεν, ὁ τοῦ Προδρόμου γενέτης, τράπεζαν τῆς αὐτοῦ μνήμης Πιστοὺς ἐκτρέφων, πόμα τε δικαιοσύνης τούτοις κεράσας. Διὸ τοῦτον εὐφημοῦμεν, ὡς θεῖον μύστην Θεοῦ τῆς χάριτος.
