By thine ascetical struggles, O Godbearing Benedict,/ thou didst prove true to thy name./ For thou wast the son of benediction, and didst become a model and rule/ to all who emulate thy life and cry:/ Glory to Him Who has strengthened thee; glory to Him Who has crowned thee;/ glory to Him Who through thee works healings for all.

Apolytikion of ST BENEDICT ― Plagal Tone 4
The image of God, was faithfully preserved in you, O Father. For you took up the Cross and followed Christ. By Your actions you taught us to look beyond the flesh for it passes, rather to be concerned about the soul which is immortal. Wherefore, O Holy Benedict, your soul rejoices with the angels.

Τὴν φερώνυμον κλῆσιν ἀληθεύουσαν ἔδειξας, τοῖς ἀσκητικοῖς σου ἀγῶσι, θεοφόρε Βενέδικτε· υἱός γὰρ εὐλογίας τεθηλώς, ἀρχέτυπον ἐγένου καὶ κανών, τοῖς ἐκ πόθου μιμουμένοις τὴν σὴν ζωήν, καὶ ὁμοφώνως κράζουσι· δόξα τῷ δεδωκότι σοι ἰσχύν, δόξα τῷ σὲ στεφανώσαντι, δόξα τῷ ἐνεργοῦντι διὰ σοῦ, πᾶσιν ἰάματα.

You were clothed, with the full armor, of the divine Spirit, through faith, you were distinguished in contest Alexander, and in Pydna you ended your path, having been found worthy of a brilliant martyrdom. Glorious Martyr, entreat Christ God, to grant us the great mercy.

Θείου Πνεύματος, τὴν πανοπλίαν, διὰ πίστεως, ἐνδεδυμένος, ἐν ἀθλήσει διαπρέπεις Ἀλέξανδρε· καὶ ἐν τῇ Πύδνῃ τελέσας τὸν δρόμον σου, μαρτυρικῆς ἠξιώθης λαμπρότητος. Μάρτυς ἔνδοξε, Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἱκέτευε, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Χριστὸν ὡμολόγησας, τῶν ἐπὶ πάντων Θεόν, καὶ χαίρων ἐνήθλησας, ὑπὲρ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ, παμμάκαρ Ἀλέξανδρε. Ὅθεν σου τὴν ἁγίαν, προσπτυσσόμενοι κάραν, ᾄδομεν τῷ Σωτῆρι, χαριστήριον αἶνον, τὸν σώζοντα ἡμᾶς ἐκ φθορᾶς ταῖς ἱκεσίαις σου.

O sun that shinest with the Mystic Dayspring's radiance, who didst enlighten the monastics of the western lands, thou art worthily the namesake of benediction; do thou purge us of the filth of passions thoroughly by the sweat of thine illustrious accomplishments, for we cry to thee: Rejoice, O thrice-blessed Benedict.

Thou wast enriched by the grace of God,/ and by thy deeds didst proclaim thy name./ In prayer and fasting thou wast shown to be full of the gifts of the Spirit of God,/ O Benedict, favorite of Christ God./ And thou hast been a healer for the infirm,// a repulser of the enemy and the ready helper of our souls.
