FIRST AND SECOND FINDING OF THE VENERABLE HEAD OF THE FORERUNNER AND BAPTIST JOHN

Troparion of the Forerunner ― Tone 4
The head of the Forerunner has risen from the earth/ and sends forth healing rays of incorruption to all the faithful./ In heaven it is mustering a host of Angels,/ and on earth it is assembling mankind/ to ascribe glory to our God.
Troparion of the Forerunner ― Tone 4
The head of the Forerunner rose from the earth as a star, / Brilliant with rays of healing and immortality. / It gathers the choirs of angels in heaven, / And assembles the human race on earth / To sing with one voice the glory of Christ our God.
Troparion of the Forerunner ― Tone 4
The head of the Forerunner,/ which hath shone forth from the earth,/ doth shed rays of incorruption/ and healing upon the faithful./ On High it assembleth a multitude of angels,/ and below it calleth upon the human race// with one voice to send up glory to Christ God.
Apolytikion of the Forerunner ― Tone 4
The Forerunner's sacred head, having dawned forth from the earth, doth send incorruption's rays unto the faithful, whereby they find healings of their ills. From on high he gathereth the choirs of the Angels and on earth he summoneth the whole race of mankind, that they with one voice might send up glory to Christ our God.
Ἅγιος ἸΩΆΝΝΗΣ ― Ἀπολυτίκιον ― Ἦχος δ´. Ταχύ προκατάλαβε
Ἐκ γῆς ἀνατείλασα ἡ τοῦ Προδρόμου κεφαλή, ἀκτῖνας ἀφίησι τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, πιστοῖς τῶν ἰάσεων· ἄνωθεν συναθροίζει, τήν πληθύν τῶν Ἀγγέλων, κάτωθεν συγκαλεῖται, τῶν ἀνθρώπων τό γένος, ὁμόφωνον ἀναπέμψαι, δόξαν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ.

Thou didst record for us the Life of our Father Colum Cille, O holy Father Cumine,/ showing forth in this wise the Orthodox understanding of hagiology./ Commemorating thee, we pray for thy speedy help and direction,/ that by following thee we may be led into the way of salvation.

O Prophet of God and Forerunner of Grace,/ having obtained thy head from the earth as a most sacred rose,/ we are always receiving healings;/ for still as of old in the world/ thou preachest repentance.

O Prophet of God and Forerunner of Grace,/ having obtained thy head from the earth like a most sacred rose,/ we ever receive healings,// for again, as of old, thou dost preach repentance in the world.

Since we have obtained thy head as a most sacred rose from out of the earth, O Forerunner of grace divine, we receive sure healing in every hour, O Prophet of God the Lord; for again, now as formerly, thou preachest repentance unto all the world.

Προφήτα Θεοῦ, καί Πρόδρομε τῆς χάριτος, τήν Κάραν τήν σήν, ὡς ῥόδον Ἱερώτατον, ἐκ τῆς γῆς εὑράμενοι, τάς ἰάσεις πάντοτε λαμβάνομεν· καί γάρ πάλιν ὡς πρότερον, ἐν κόσμῳ κηρύττεις τήν μετάνοιαν.

Praise and honour are thy due, O Father Cumine,/ for thou dost reveal to us the reality of the Communion of Saints/ and thereby dost demonstrate our need for a spiritual father./ Wherefore raising our voices in intercession,/ we entreat thee to pray to God for us,/ that we may amend our lives/ and follow in the footsteps of our righteous forefathers.
