O glorious Simon, when God Incarnate revealed Himself to thee/ thou wast kindled with divine zeal./ Thou wast a zealot among the Apostles and eager to emulate Christ's death./ Thou didst go forth to Him by crucifixion./ Entreat Him to grant us His great mercy.

Divine zeal possessed you when He Who became incarnate made Himself known to you; and were shown forth as a zealot among the apostles. And being zealous to emulate the Master in death, you departed unto Him through crucifixion. O glorious Simon, entreat Christ God, that we be granted great mercy.

Having learned of the goodness of the Grace that comes from the Highest / And girded yourself from your youth in a clear conscience, / O Comgall, imitator of Christ, you were a pillar of patience / And a preacher of the Word of God, / You confirmed the teachings of the faith and subdued the imaginations of the superstitious, / By so doing you glady suffered for the truth being an example of suffering. / Since you possess boldness before Christ our God / Do not cease to pray for us, who in love revere your holy memory.

O Comgall, 'Father of Monks',/ thou didst train four thousand monastics./ Thou didst kindle Christ's fire in Bangor/ and thy cell was aglow in pagan darkness./ O friend of Saint Colum Cille,/ thou radiancy of Ireland and Scotland/ we praise God Who has glorified thee.
