HOLY MARTYR EUPSYCHIOS OF CAESAREA
ST THEODORE the Sykeote
ST DEMETRIUS the Megalomartyr
GREAT MONDAY // 2019 //
Troparion of ST EUPSYCHIOS ― Tone 3
With steadfast heart thou didst finish thy course/ and cast down the wily foe;/ for thou wast clad in the armour of the Cross,/ O blessed Eupsychios./ thou wast numbered with the Martyr hosts/ and hast attained to eternal glory./ Ever entreat Christ our God to save us who honour thee.

Apolytikion of ST THEODORE the Sykeote ― Tone 4
Since thou hadst been known from thy swaddling bands to be sanctified, and hadst been shown to be filled with graces, thou didst illuminate the world with miracles, and dist drive off the swarms of demons, O sacred minister Theodore; wherefore do thou beseech the Lord in our behalf.

ST DEMETRIUS ― Apolytikion ― Tone 3
The world has found in you a great champion in time of peril, as you emerged the victor in routing the barbarians. For as you brought to naught the boasts of Lyaios, imparting courage to Nestor in the stadium, in like manner, holy one, great Martyr Demetrios, invoke Christ God for us, that He may grant us His great mercy.

Great Monday ― Troparion ― Tone 8
Behold, the Bridegroom is coming in the middle of the night, and blessed is the servant whom He shall find awake and watching, but unworthy is he whom He shall find idle and careless. Beware, then, my soul, lest thou be weighed down with sleep, lest thou be given up to death and shut out of the Kingdom. But awake and cry: Holy, Holy, Holy, art Thou, O God: through the intercessions of the Bodiless Ones, save us. (Sung three times; however, the ending the third time is: through the Mother of God, have mercy on us.)
Great Monday ― Troparion ― Tone 8
Behold the Bridegroom comes at midnight, / And blessed is the servant whom He shall find watching, / And again unworthy is the servant whom He shall find heedless. / Beware, therefore, O my soul, do not be weighed down with sleep, / Lest you be given up to death and lest you be shut out of the Kingdom. / But rouse yourself crying: Holy, Holy, Holy, are You, O our God! / Through the Theotokos have mercy on us!
Great Monday ― Apolytikion ― Plagal Tone 4
See! The Bridegroom sets forth in the dead of night. And blessed is that servant whom he shall find on watch; unworthy the one he shall come upon lazing. See to it, soul, that sleep does not overtake you, lest you be given up to death and be shut out of the kingdom. Bestir yourself, then, and sing out: "Holy, holy, holy are You, our God; through the protection of the bodiless powers, save us."

Kontakion of ST EUPSYCHIOS ― Tone 2
As a living temple of Christ the Lord/ thou didst destroy the ungodly temple,/ and didst build a dwelling in Paradise, O Martyr Eupsychios,/ by thy steadfast toils in martyrdom.

Kontakion of ST THEODORE the Sykeote ― Tone 3
As thy fiery chariot, thou didst ascend on the virtues, O God-bearer, mounting up unto the dwellings of Heaven; and thou wast an Angel living on earth among men, and a man dancing for joy with the holy Angles. Hence, O Theodore, thou hast proved a godly vessel of awesome wonders and signs.
• • •
ST DEMETRIUS ― Kontakion ― Tone 2
God, who gave you invincible power and with care kept your city invulnerable, royally clothed the Church in purple with the streams of your blood, for you are her strength, O Demetrios.
• • •
Great Monday ― Kontakion ― Tone 8
Jacob mourned the loss of Joseph, while the noble one rode in a chariot, honored as royalty. For having spurned the enticements of the Egyptian woman, he was in turn glorified by Him who knows the hearts of men and bestows an incorruptible crown.
Great Monday ― Kontakion ― Tone 8
Jacob lamented the loss of Joseph, but his noble son was sitting in a chariot and honoured as a king. For when he refused to be enslaved by the pleasures of the Egyptian woman, he was glorified by Him Who sees the hearts of men and bestows an incorruptible crown.
