Troparion of St Hesychios Tone 1
Thou didst fling away the honours of the world/ and joyfully profess the glory of Christ./ In the power of the Spirit thou didst endure shame/ as though it were an honour,/ and meet death by drowning, O glorious Hesychios,/ to rejoice forever with Christ the Wellspring of life.

Ἄξιας κοσμικῆς, ἀπορρίψας τὸ κλέος, τὴν δόξαν τοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὡμολόγησας χαίρων, Ἡσύχιε πανένδοξε, Ἀθλητῶν ἐγκαλλώπισμα· ὅθεν ἔφερες, ὥσπερ τιμὴν τὴν αἰσχύνην, καὶ τὸν θάνατον, ἐν πνιγμονῇ τῶν ὑδάτων, δυνάμει τοῦ Πνεύματος.

Blessed ascetic of Iona's isle,/ thou didst strengthen the foundation of thy kinsman Colum Cille, O righteous Ferona,/ bringing stability to Christ's holy Church and salvation to men's souls.

By sharing in the ways of the Apostles, / you became a successor to their throne. / Through the practice of virtue, you found the way to divine contemplation, O inspired one of God; / by teaching the word of truth without error, you defended the Faith, even to the shedding of your blood. / Hieromartyr Theodotus, entreat Christ God to save our souls.

Seeking the city of Sion, we flee today beneath thy protection, O pure Virgin, and none can assail us, for there is no city as powerful as the one of Him Who is God, and no other might to equal that of the mercy of the Virgin Mistress.

Following the commandments of Christ thou didst instruct many in the True Faith, O Father Gistilian, establishing churches and monasteries to serve the faithful. Pray for us, O Saint, that we may profit by thine example for the salvation of our souls.

Thou didst follow in the athletes' footsteps/ and ascend to God, deified by His love./ Thou didst prove to be equal with the assembly of martyrs on high/ in renouncing all things passing./ When thou wast cast into the river/ thou didst attain to the Source of Living Waters,/ Holy Athlete Hesychios,/ fervent intercessor for the faithful.

Τούς ἀθλητικούς ἀγῶνας ἰχνηλατήσας, πρός θεουργικήν, ἀγάπην ἀνεπτερώθης, καί τῆς ἄνω Συγκλήτου, ἐδείχθης ὁμότιμος, ἀρνησάμενος τήν πρόσκαιρον, καί ζωῆς πρός ὕδωρ ἔφθασας, ποταμοῦ ῥιφείς τοῖς ῥεύμασιν, Ἡσύχιε Ἀθλητά, εὐσεβῶν πρεσβευτά.

In the Western Isles the flame of faith shone brightly/ by thy tireless and ascetic labours,/ O bastion of Orthodoxy, great Father Ferona./ Wherefore we bless thy name, praying for strength/ to show forth the same steadfastness in our lives.

You denounced the depths of false belief. / With the Orthodox faith you wounded the delusion of idolatry. / As a godly, whole burnt sacrifice, / You refreshed the ends of the earth with your wonders! / O holy hierarch Theodotus, our father, / Entreat Christ God to grant us great mercy!

To thee, the champion leader, do we offer hymns of victory, for thy might hath been given to us, and we are not afraid; for our salvation is not of this world, but we are defended by the lovingkindness of the all-exalted Mistress. Today we rejoice therein, for the Mistress hath come to watch over her land.
