ST ALEXIS THE MAN OF GOD
ST MACARIUS OF KALAZIN
ST PATRICK ― ENLIGHTENER OF IRELAND
ST JOSEPH of Arimathea
THEOSTERICTUS the Confessor
Troparion of St Alexis Tone 4
Thou didst bud from a famous and glorious root;/ thou didst blossom from a royal and illustrious city, O supremely wise Alexis;/ thou didst disdain all on earth as corruptible and fleeting,/ and didst hasten to Christ the Master./ Ever entreat Him to save our souls.
Apolytikion of St Alexis Tone 4
Though thou didst bud forth from a renowned and notable root, and though thou didst blossom from a city famed for her great imperial dignity, yet didst thou scorn all things as corruptible and fleeting, striving to be joined to Christ thy Master for ever. Entreat Him, O Alexios most wise, fervently for our souls.
Troparion of St Alexis Tone 4
Having mounted to virtue and cleansed thy mind,/ thu didst attain unto that which was thine ultimate desire;/ and having adorned the life with dispassion/ and taken up exemplary fasting with a pure conscience,/ remaining in prayer like one of the bodiless ones,/ thou didst shine upon the world like the sun,// O most blessed Alexis.
Troparion of St Alexis Tone 4
You budded from a famous and glorious root; / You blossomed from a royal and illustrious city, O supremely wise Alexis; / You disdained everything on earth as corruptible and fleeting, / And you hastened to Christ the Master. / Always entreat Him to save our souls.
Troparion of St Macarius Tone 8
Thou didst deaden thy carnal mind by abstinence and vigil./ The place where thy sweat poured proclaims thy admonitions like God's trumpet;/ and after thy repose thy holy relics pour forth healings./ Wherefore we cry to thee: Pray to Christ our God that our souls may be saved.
Troparion of St Macarius Tone 8
You deadened your carnal mind by abstinence and vigil. / The place watered by the sweat of your labors proclaims your admonitions like God’s trumpet. / After your repose your relics pour forth healings. / Therefore we cry to you: pray to Christ our God that our souls may be saved!
Apolytikion of St Patrick Tone 3
O Holy Hierarch, equal of the Apostles, Saint Patrick, wonderworker and enlightener of Ireland: Intercede with the merciful God that He grant unto our souls forgiveness of offences.
Troparion of St Patrick Tone 3
Holy Bishop Patrick, / Faithful shepherd of Christ’s royal flock, / You filled Ireland with the radiance of the Gospel: / The mighty strength of the Trinity! / Now that you stand before the Savior, / Pray that He may preserve us in faith and love!
Troparion of St Patrick Tone 4
Most glorious art Thou, Christ our God/ Who didst establish our Father Patrick/ as the Enlightener of the Irish and a torch-bearer on earth,/ and through him didst guide many to the true Faith./ Most Compassionate One, glory to Thee.
Troparion of St Joseph Tone 2
Noble Joseph took Thine immaculate Body down from the tree, wrapped it in a clean shroud and spices, and having embalmed It, laid It in a new sepulchre. But on the third day Thou didst rise, O Lord, granting the world great mercy.

Kontakion of St Alexis Tone 4
Today with hymns and praise/ we celebrate the festival of Alexis the blessed and cry aloud:/ Rejoice, gladsome adornment of the righteous.

Kontakion of St Macarius Tone 2
Thou didst desire the life of heaven and delight in abstinence, labours and sweat;/ thou didst bridle the flesh and receive grace to work wonders,/ and appear as a radiant light, O righteous Father Macarius./ Wherefore the Church of Christ glorifies thee.
Kontakion of St Macarius Tone 2
You desired the life of heaven / And delighted in abstinence, labors and sweat. / You bridled the flesh and received the grace to work wonders. / You appear as a radiant light, O righteous Father Macarius. / Therefore the Church of Christ glorifies you!
Kontakion of St Patrick Tone 4
The Master revealed thee as a skillful fisher of men; and casting forth nets of Gospel preaching, thou drewest up the heathen to piety. Those who were the children of idolatrous darkness thou didst render sons of day through holy Baptism. O Patrick, intercede for us who honour thy memory.
Kontakion of St Patrick Tone 4
From slavery you escaped to freedom in Christ’s service: / He sent you to deliver Ireland from the devil’s bondage. / You planted the Word of the Gospel in pagan hearts. / In your journeys and hardships you rivaled the Apostle Paul! / Having received the reward for your labors in heaven, / Never cease to pray for the flock you have gathered on earth, / Holy bishop Patrick!
Kontakion of St Joseph Tone 2
Joseph of Arimathea took Thee the Life of all, down from the Tree as one dead,
and wrapped Thee in clean linen and spices. He yearned to embrace and kiss Thy pure Body with heart and lips
yet he restrained himself with fear.
He cried to Thee rejoicing:
Glory to Thy condescension, O Lover of mankind.
