Troparion of St Benedict Tone 1
By thine ascetical struggles, O Godbearing Benedict,/ thou didst prove true to thy name./ For thou wast the son of benediction, and didst become a model and rule/ to all who emulate thy life and cry:/ Glory to Him Who has strengthened thee; glory to Him Who has crowned thee;/ glory to Him Who through thee works healings for all.

Τὴν φερώνυμον κλῆσιν ἀληθεύουσαν ἔδειξας, τοῖς ἀσκητικοῖς σου ἀγῶσι, θεοφόρε Βενέδικτε· υἱός γὰρ εὐλογίας τεθηλώς, ἀρχέτυπον ἐγένου καὶ κανών, τοῖς ἐκ πόθου μιμουμένοις τὴν σὴν ζωήν, καὶ ὁμοφώνως κράζουσι· δόξα τῷ δεδωκότι σοι ἰσχύν, δόξα τῷ σὲ στεφανώσαντι, δόξα τῷ ἐνεργοῦντι διὰ σοῦ, πᾶσιν ἰάματα.
Apolytikion of St Alexander of Pidna Tone 3
You were clothed, with the full armor, of the divine Spirit, through faith, you were distinguished in contest Alexander, and in Pydna you ended your path, having been found worthy of a brilliant martyrdom. Glorious Martyr, entreat Christ God, to grant us the great mercy.
Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ἅγιος Ἀλέξανδρος ὁ ἐν Πύδνῃ Ἦχος γ´. Θείας πίστεως
Θείου Πνεύματος, τὴν πανοπλίαν, διὰ πίστεως, ἐνδεδυμένος, ἐν ἀθλήσει διαπρέπεις Ἀλέξανδρε· καὶ ἐν τῇ Πύδνῃ τελέσας τὸν δρόμον σου, μαρτυρικῆς ἠξιώθης λαμπρότητος. Μάρτυς ἔνδοξε, Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἱκέτευε, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.
Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ἅγιος Ἀλέξανδρος ὁ ἐν Πύδνῃ Ἦχος δ´. Ταχὺ προκατάλαβε
Χριστὸν ὡμολόγησας, τῶν ἐπὶ πάντων Θεόν, καὶ χαίρων ἐνήθλησας, ὑπὲρ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ, παμμάκαρ Ἀλέξανδρε. Ὅθεν σου τὴν ἁγίαν, προσπτυσσόμενοι κάραν, ᾄδομεν τῷ Σωτῆρι, χαριστήριον αἶνον, τὸν σώζοντα ἡμᾶς ἐκ φθορᾶς ταῖς ἱκεσίαις σου.

Thou wast enriched by the grace of God,/ and by thy deeds didst proclaim thy name./ In prayer and fasting thou wast shown to be full of the gifts of the Spirit of God,/ O Benedict, favorite of Christ God./ And thou hast been a healer for the infirm,// a repulser of the enemy and the ready helper of our souls.

You were enriched with God’s grace; / your works agreed with your name, O Benedict, helpful servant of Christ God. / Through prayer and fasting you were revealed to be filled with the gifts of the Spirit of God! / You are a healer of the sick, the banisher of demons and speedy defender of our souls!

Like a sun of the Dayspring from on high/ thou didst enlighten the monks of the West and instruct them by word and deed./ By the sweat of thine ascetical achievements/ purge from the filth of passions us who honour thee and cry:/ Rejoice, O Father Benedict.

Ἀνατολῆς τῆς νοητῆς φωστὴρ γενόμενος

Ἀλλ᾽ ἱδρῶσι τῶν λαμπρῶν κατορθωμάτων σου

Ἐν τῇ Πύδνῃ Ἅγιε, στερρῶς ἀθλήσας, τὸν Χριστὸν ἐδόξασας, σφαγιασθεὶς ὑπὲρ αὐτοῦ, ἐν οὐρανοῖς δὲ τὸν στέφανον, τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐδέξω Ἀλέξανδρε.
