THE 20 000 HOLY MARTYRS BURNED AT NICOMEDIA
SS ROMULUS AND CONINDRUS
ST SIMON the Myroblytis
Troparion of the Feast — Tone 4
Thy Nativity, O Christ our God,/ has shone to the world as the light of wisdom./ For by it those who worshipped the stars/ were taught by a star to adore Thee,/ the Sun of Righteousness,/ and to know Thee, the Orient from on high./ O Lord, glory to Thee.
Troparion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 2
O athletes of the Lord,/ blessed is the ground which drank in your blood,/ and holy the habitations which have received your bodies,/ for in your contest ye vanquished the enemy and preached Christ with boldness.// Entreat Him, we pray, in that He is good, that our souls be saved.
Troparion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 2
Blessed is the earth that received your blood, passion-bearers of the Lord, / and holy is the dwelling place which received your spirits. / You triumphed over the enemy in the stadium / and you preached Christ with boldness. / Since He is good, we pray that you beseech Him to save our souls.
Apolytikion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 3
As a divine array, a holy city, a chosen people of the Lord, refreshed by His love you endured contest by fire, O Twenty Thousand Martyrs. We beseech you, entreat the Compassionate God to grant us His great mercy.
Troparion of SS ROMULUS and CONINDRUS — Tone 4
By your holy preaching, Romulus and Conindrus,/ the Holy Name of Jesus was first heard in the Isle of Man./ As Heaven rejoices at the extension of the Orthodox Faith,/ pray, most holy fathers, that we may use our lives in Christ's service/ for the salvation of our souls.

Kontakion of the Feast — Tone 3
Today the Virgin gives birth to the Transcendent One,/ and the earth offers a cave to the Unapproachable One./ Angels with Shepherds glorify Him,/ the wise men journey with the star;/ since for our sake the eternal God was born as a little child.
Kontakion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 1
Their souls strengthened by faith, the twenty thousand martyrs accepted their suffering by fire, / and cried out to You, the One born of the Virgin: / “Like gold, myrrh, and frankincense, the gifts of the Persian kings, / receive our whole burnt offering, O Eternal God.”
Kontakion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 1
An host that numbers twice ten thousand Martyrs dawns like beacon fire that never sets, enlightening through faith the hearts and minds of the devout; for aflame with divine love of the Master, the noble Martyrs fervently accepted a perfect end through fire.
Kontakion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 2
Strong in the Faith, the Twenty Thousand holy Martyrs accepted suffering by fire. They cried to Him Who was born of the Virgin: Accept our offerings like the gifts of the Magi - gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Kontakion of the 20 000 Holy Martyrs — Tone 2 "The steadfast"
Made steadfast in soul by faith,/ the twenty thousand holy athletes accepted suffering by fire,/ crying out to Him Who was born of the Virgin:/ "O preeternal God, accept us as wholeburnt offerings to Thee,// as thou didst accept the gold, myrrh and frankincense from the Persian kings!"
