FOREFEAST OF THE HOLY NATIVITY
HOLY HIEROMARTYR IGNATIUS THE GODBEARER — BISHOP OF ANTIOCH
ST JOHN OF KRONSTADT
ST URSICIAN
Troparion of the Forefeast — Tone 4
Make ready, Bethehem, Eden has been opened to all./ Prepare Ephratha, for the Tree of Life has blossomed in the cave from the Virgin./ Her womb was a spiritual paradise whence came the Divine Plant./ If we eat it we shall live and not die like Adam./ Christ is born to raise up the image that of old had fallen.
Apolytikion of ST IGNATIUS THE GODBEARER — Tone 3
Soaring with love for Him Who holds thee in His hands, thou wast shown to be a God-bearer, O Ignatius. Thou didst finish thy course in the West, and pitch thy dwelling in the unwaning day of the heavens. O Venerable Father, entreat Christ our God to grant us His great mercy.
Troparion of ST IGNATIUS THE GODBEARER — Tone 4
As thou didst share in the ways of the apostles/ and didst occupy their throne,/ thou didst find thine activity to be a passage to divine vision,/ O divinely inspired one./ Wherefore, ordering the word of truth,/ thou didst suffer for the Faith even to the shedding of thy blood.// O hieromartyr Ignatius, entreat Christ God, that our souls be saved.
Troparion of ST IGNATIUS THE GODBEARER — Tone 4
By sharing in the ways of the Apostles, / you became a successor to their throne. / Through the practice of virtue, you found the way to divine contemplation, O inspired one of God; / by teaching the word of truth without error, you defended the Faith, even to the shedding of your blood. / Hieromartyr Ignatius, entreat Christ God to save our souls.
Troparion of ST JOHN OF KRONSTADT — Tone 1
As a zealous advocate of the Orthodox faith, / As a caring Solicitor for the land of Russia, / Faithful to the rules and image of a pastor, / Preaching repentance and life in Christ, / An awesome servant and administer of God’s sacraments, / A daring intercessor for people’s sake, / O Good and righteous Father John, / Healer and wonderful miracle-worker, / The praise of the town of Kronstadt / And decoration of our Church, / Beseech the All-Merciful God / To reconcile the world and to save our souls!
Troparion of ST JOHN OF KRONSTADT — Tone 4
O wonderworker living in Christ forever,/ with love have mercy on those in danger;/ hear thy children who call on thee with faith;/ be compassionate to those who hope for aid from thee,/ O Father John of Kronstadt, our beloved shepherd.
Troparion of ST JOHN OF KRONSTADT — Tone 4
With the apostles your message has gone out to the ends of the world, / And with the confessors you suffered for Christ! / You are like the hierarchs through your preaching of the word; / With the righteous you are radiant with the grace of God. / The Lord has exalted your humility above the heavens / And given us your name as a source of miracles. / O wonder-worker, living in Christ for ever, / Have mercy on those beset by troubles; / And hear us when we cry out in faith, O our beloved shepherd John!
Kontakion of ST JOHN OF KRONSTADT — Tone 3
This day the pastor of Kronstadt / Appears before the throne of God / Praying fervently on behalf of the faithful / To the chief pastor Christ, who has promised: / “I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it!”
Troparion of ST URSICIAN — Tone 8
Thy life is a hymn of triumph, O blessed one,/ who together with the great Columban didst travel throughout Europe preaching repentance, humility and our saving Faith in Christ,/ Wherefore, most righteous Ursician, intercede for us/ that we may show forth in our lives the truth of our faith, that many souls may be saved.
