Troparion of the THEOPHANY — Tone 1
When Thou wast baptized in the Jordan, O Lord,/ the worship of the Trinity made its appearance./ For the voice of the Father bore witness to Thee/ when He called Thee His beloved Son./ And the Spirit in the form of a dove/ confirmed the truth of the word./ O Christ our God, Who hast appeared and hast enlightened the world,/ glory to Thee!

The memory of the just is celebrated with hymns of praise,/ but the Lord's testimony is enough for thee, O Forerunner/ for thou wast shown to be more wonderful than the Prophets/ since thou wast granted to baptize in the running waters/ Him whom thou didst proclaim./ Then having endured great suffering for the Truth,/ thou didst rejoice to bring, even to those in hell,/ the good tidings that God Who had appeared in the flesh/ takes away the sin of the world/ and grants us the great mercy.

The memory of the righteous is celebrated with hymns of praise, but the Lord's testimony is sufficient for thee, O forerunner. Thou wast truly shown to be more honorable than the prophets, in that thou wast counted worthy to baptize in the streams Him Whom thou didst proclaim. Wherefore, having suffered, rejoicing, for the truth, even unto those in hades didst thou proclaim God, Who had manifested Himself in the flesh, Who taketh away the sin of the world, and granteth us great mercy.

Μνήμη δικαίου μετ’ ἐγκωμίων· σοὶ δὲ ἀρκέσει ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ Κυρίου Πρόδρομε· ἀνεδείχθης γὰρ ὄντως καὶ Προφητῶν σεβασμιώτερος, ὅτι καὶ ἐν ῥείθροις βαπτίσαι, κατηξιώθης τὸν κηρυττόμενον. Ὅθεν τῆς ἀληθείας ὑπεραθλήσας, χαίρων εὐηγγελίσω, καὶ τοὶς ἐν ᾍδῃ, Θεὸν φανερωθέντα ἐν σαρκί, τὸν αἴροντα τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τοῦ κόσμου, καὶ παρέχοντα ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Righteous tutor of the children of Brychan and great wonderworker, O Father Brannock,/ thou didst win many souls for Christ by thy tireless endeavors./ As Braunton's church may yet hold thy precious relics,/ pray that we, being ever mindful of our Orthodox heritage,/ may never deviate from the true faith,/ and, thereby, receive the reward of the blest.

Jordan turned back in fear at the sight of Thy bodily presence./ And having fulfilled his prophetic ministry, John drew back trembling./ The Angelic orders were amazed/ to see Thee in the flesh baptized in the waters./ And all in darkness were illumined and praised Thee/ Who had appeared and enlightened all creation.

The ranks of the angels were amazed, beholding Thee baptized in the flesh in the streams, and all who were in darkness were enlightened, hymning Thee Who hast appeared and illumined all things.

The river Jordan trembled and was driven back filled with fear at Your coming in the flesh, / while John drew back in awe as he fulfilled the ministry of a prophet. / The ranks of angels stood amazed, / when they beheld You in the flesh being baptized in the streams. / And we, who were in darkness, are filled with light as we praise You, / who have appeared to enlighten all.
