Thy Nativity, O Christ our God,/ has shone to the world as the light of wisdom./ For by it those who worshipped the stars/ were taught by a star to adore Thee,/ the Sun of Righteousness,/ and to know Thee, the Orient from on high./ O Lord, glory to Thee.
Apolytikion of ST STEPHEN — Tone 4
Thou art crowned with a royal diadem, for contests endured in Christ's name, O first and holy Martyr; thou didst put to shame thy persecutors, and see thy Saviour at the right hand of the Father. Ever pray to Him for our souls.

Protomartyr and mighty warrior of Christ our God, / you were victorious in battle and crowned with glory, holy Stephen. / You confounded the council of those who persecuted you, / beholding your Savior enthroned at the Father’s right hand. / Never cease praying that our souls may be saved!

Thou didst fight the good fight, and, didst denounce the impiety of the tyrants,/ O protomartyr and apostle of Christ;/ for, stoned at the hands of the iniquitous,/ thou hast received from on high a crown from the right hand of the Lord,// and didst exclaim to God, crying aloud: O Lord, lay not this sin to their charge!

Βασίλειον διάδημα, ἐστέφθη σὴ κορυφή, ἐξ ἄθλων ὧν ὑπέμεινας, ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ, Μαρτύρων Πρωτόαθλε Στέφανε· σὺ γὰρ τὴν Ἰουδαίων, ἀπελέγξας μανίαν, εἶδές σου τὸν Σωτῆρα, τοῦ Πατρὸς δεξιόθεν. Αὐτὸν οὖν ἐκδυσώπει ἀεί, ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.

Signed with holy wounds, thou wast offered as a living gift to the Giver of life. For adorned with the gifts of thy holy struggle, thou didst shine as a noble confessor. Holy Father Theodore, intercede with Christ our God to grant us His great mercy.
Ἅγιος ΘΕΌΔΩΡΟΣ ὁ ΓΡΑΠΤὸΣ Ἀπολυτίκιον ― Ἦχος γ’. Θείας πίστεως
Θείοις στίγμασι, σεσημασμένος, δῶρον ἔμψυχον, τῷ Ζωοδότῃ, προσηνέχθης θεοφόρε Θεόδωρε· ἀσκητικαῖς δωρεαῖς γὰρ κοσμούμενος, ὁμολογίας ἀγῶσι διέλαμψας. Πάτερ Ὅσιε, Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἱκέτευε, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.

Today the Virgin gives birth to the Transcendent One,/ and the earth offers a cave to the Unapproachable One./ Angels with Shepherds glorify Him,/ the wise men journey with the star;/ since for our sake the eternal God was born as a little child.

Yesterday the Master came to us in the flesh, today His servant departs in the flesh; yesterday the King was born in the flesh; today His servant is stoned to death for His sake. Hence the divine and first Martyr Stephen is made perfect.

Father Theodore, thou didst venerate the icon of Christ and undergo persecutions, hardships and afflictions. Thou hast become a strong pillar of Orthodoxy; initiator in things sacred, we honour thee.
