Ἡ δυὰς ἡ ἔνθεος, τῶν θεοφόρων Πατέρων, ἀρετῶν τὰς χάριτας, μυσταγωγοῦσι τοὺς πάντας, μέγας μέν, ὁ Βαρσανούφιος πέλων Γέρων, ἄλλος δέ, ὁ Ἰωάννης ὅσιος Γέρων, οὓς αἰνέσωμεν συμφώνως, ὡς τῆς Τριάδος θείους θεράποντας.

Τὸ καθαρόν, καὶ διαυγὲς τοῦ βίου σου, ὁ Μαθητής, ὁ τῷ Χριστῷ ἐράσμιος, ἀτεχνῶς ὡς θεασάμενος, Βουκόλε Πάτερ ἱερώτατε, ποιμένα Ἐκκλησίας σε καθίστησι, καὶ λύχνον εὐσεβείας φαεινότατον· τῶν τρόπων αὐτῷ γὰρ ἐκοινώνησας.

Τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ μύστῃ Χριστοῦ, Βουκόλε θεόφρον, μαθητεύσας ὡς καθαρός, ὤφθης Ἐκκλησίας, ποιμὴν τῆς ἐν τῇ Σμύρνῃ, καὶ τῷ καλῷ ποιμένι, ταύτην ὡδήγησας.
