Rejoice, thou who art full of grace,/ Mother of God and Virgin,/ for from thee arose the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God,/ to give light to those in darkness./ Rejoice thou also, righteous Elder, who didst take in thine arms the Redeemer of our souls,/ Who also gives us the grace of resurrection.

The memory of Your prophet Zachariah / We celebrate today, O Lord. / By his prayers, we beseech You, / O Christ God, save our souls!
Apolytikion of THE PROPHET ZACHARIAH — Tone 4
By thy deeds, wise Zechariah, thou didst show that thou hadst righteously received thy name as a treasury of God's inspiration, for Angels were thy companions in life and thou wast a prophet of things to come. And now, as thou canst, fulfill from on high our petitions.
Ὁ ΠΡΟΦΉΤΗΣ ΖΑΧΑΡΊΑΣ — Ἀπολυτίκιον — Ἦχος δ’. Ταχὺ προκατάλαβε
Τὴν κλῆσιν κατάλληλον, δείξας τοῖς ἔργοις σοφέ, ταμεῖον ἐπάξιον, τῆς ἐπιπνοίας Θεοῦ, Ζαχαρία γεγένησαι· ἔχων γὰρ ἐν τῷ βίῳ, συλλαλοῦντας Ἀγγέλους, ὤφθης τῶν ἐσομένων, θεηγόρος Προφήτης. Καὶ νῦν ἡμῶν τὰς αἰτήσεις, ἄνωθεν πλήρωσον.

Through true recruitment didst thou become a most worthy general of the heavenly King,/ O passion-bearer Theodore;/ for thou didst wisely put on the whole armor of God/ and, vanquishing legions of demons, thou didst show thyself to be a victorious athlete.// Wherefore, with faith do we ever bless thee.

Truly enlisted with the King of Heaven, / you became an outstanding general for Him, passion-bearer Theodore; / you armed yourself wisely with the weapons of faith / and conquered hordes of demons, revealing yourself as a victorious athlete. / Therefore, in faith we always call you blessed.

O trophy-bearer Theodore, by thy strategy thou wast a general of the heavenly King; armed with the weapons of faith thou didst annihilate hordes of demons and win the Athletes' contest. With faith we call thee blessed.

Στρατολογίᾳ ἀληθεῖ Ἀθλοφόρε, τοῦ οὐρανίου στρατηγὸς Βασιλέως, περικαλλὴς γεγένησαι Θεόδωρε· ὅπλοις γὰρ τῆς πίστεως, παρετάξω ἐμφρόνως, καὶ κατεξωλόθρευσας, τῶν δαιμόνων τὰ στίφη, καὶ νικηφόρος ὤφθης Ἀθλητής· ὅθεν σε πίστει, ἀεὶ μακαρίζομεν.

Thou didst teach us the value of relics, O Father Oncho,/ for thou didst spend thy earthly life collecting these precious aids to piety and devotion./ Pray to God for us, that in honouring what is precious to God,/ we may be found worthy of His great mercy.

Thou Who didst sanctify the Virgin's womb by Thy birth/ and bless Symeon's hands as was fitting/ hast now come to us and saved us, O Christ our God./ But grant peace in the midst of wars to Thy community,/ and strengthen the Church which Thou hast loved,/ O only Lover of mankind.

Enlightened by the brightness of the Spirit, O glorious Zechariah, like a lamp of many lights thou didst clearly describe beforehand the Saviour's condescension.

Ἐμπνευσθεὶς τοῦ Πνεύματος τῇ ἐπιλάμψει, Ζαχαρία ἔνδοξε, τρανῶς προέγραψας ἡμῖν, ὥσπερ λαμπάδα πολύφωτον, τὴν τοῦ Σωτῆρος, ἀπόρρητον κένωσιν.

With the word of God as a spear in your hand, / in courage of soul and armed with faith, / you vanquished the enemy, Theodore, glory of martyrs, / with whom you unceasingly pray to Christ God for us all.

Having put on the whole armor of faith with valor of soul,/ and taking in hand the word of god as a spear,/ thou didst conquer the enemy, O theodore,/ great among the martyrs.// With them cease thou never to entreat Christ God in behalf of us all.

Ἀνδρείᾳ ψυχῆς, τὴν πίστιν ὁπλισάμενος, καὶ ῥῆμα Θεοῦ, ὡς λόγχην χειρισάμενος, τὸν ἐχθρὸν κατέτρωσας τῶν Μαρτύρων κλέος Θεόδωρε. Σὺν αὐτοῖς Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, πρεσβεύων μὴ παύση, ὑπὲρ πάντων ἡμῶν.

Following thine example, most holy Oncho,/ we pray for strength to defend all precious and holy things,/ resisting to the end all attempts at desecration and sacrilege/ by the agents of the godless,/ that in all things glory may be given to Christ our God.
