As a sacred, guide of grace, and a renowned, witness of truth, we praise and cry out to you, all-blessed Irenaeus: Guide aright our path to the Father in peace, those who with longing flee to your intercessions, granting to us the forgiveness of our transgressions.

Imbued with courage and bravery from on high, the glorious martyr Alban stood undaunted before the tyrant and boldly confessed Christ as the only God of all; and he utterly refused to offer sacrifice to false deities.
