Radiant vessel of the Spirit from thy youth,/ thou wast enriched with the gift of miracles;/ thou didst serve thy Savior in the priestly office/ and drink of His cup in thy contest./ Holy Hieromartyr Phocas, entreat Him to Save our souls.

As thou didst share in the ways of the apostles/ and didst occupy their throne, / thou didst find thine activity to be a passage to divine vision, / O divinely inspired one. / Wherefore, ordering the word of truth, / thou didst suffer for the Faith even to the shedding of thy blood.// O hieromartyr Phocas, entreat Christ God, that our souls be saved.

Ἐκ βρέφους τοῦ Πνεύματος, ὀφθεὶς δοχεῖον λαμπρόν, θαυμάτων ἐπλούτησας, τὴν παρ’ αὐτοῦ δωρεάν, Φωκᾶ ἱερώτατε· ὅθεν ἱερουργήσας, τῷ Σωτῆρι ὁσίως, ἔπιες ἐν ἀθλήσει, τὸ ποτήριον τούτου· ᾧ πρέσβευε δεόμεθα, ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.
Apolytikion of Holy Prophet JONAH — Tone 3
To the Ninevites, thou wast a trumpet, blaring fearful threats of Heaven's judgments, at the which they repented with all their hearts; and from the sea-monster's belly didst thou foreshow the Lord's divine Resurrection to all the world. Hence, entreat Him to bring out of corruption all of us, who honour thee, O Jonah, as a friend of God.
Ἀπολυτίκιον. Προφήτης ἸΩΝὰΣ — Ἦχος γ’. Θείας πίστεως
Σάλπιγξ εὔηχος, θείων κριμάτων, κόσμῳ πέφηνας, ἀναφωνοῦσα, Ἰωνᾶ τοῖς Νινευΐταις μετάνοιαν· καὶ συσχεθεὶς ἐν τῷ κήτει προέγραψας, τὴν τοῦ Σωτῆρος τριήμερον ἔγερσιν· ὅθεν πρέσβευε, δοθῆναι τοῖς σὲ γεραίρουσι, πταισμάτων ἱλασμὸν καὶ μέγα ἔλεος.

The Master has set thee as a brilliant sun/ shining on all the faithful./ He has accepted thy life, faith and contest as myrrh,/ O glorious Martyr Phocas,/ for He is rich in mercy.

As a hierarch that offered sacrifice, O father,/ thou didst ultimately offer thyself as a living sacrifice,/ bearing witness under the law concerning Christ God,/ strengthened by angels assenting to death,/ O thou that art with them that cry to thee:// Come thou with us, O Phocas, and no one shall be against us!

Τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος, τὴν πλουσιόδωρον χάριν, ὡς πηγὴν θεόβρυτον, ἐν τῇ ψυχῇ κεκτημένος, ἔσβεσας, πόνων ἱδρῶσι πλάνης τὴν φλόγα, βρύεις δὲ, θαυμάτων ῥεῖθρα τοῖς ἐκβοῶσι· χαίροις κλέος Ἱερέων, καὶ τῶν Μαρτύρων Φωκᾶ μακάριε.
Kontakion of Holy Prophet JONAH — Tone 3
Thou didst pass three days and nights within the sea-monster's entrails, showing forth the Lord's descent into the belly of Hades; for when He had freely suffered His saving Passion, He arose out of the sepulchre on the third day. Hence, we honour thee, O Prophet, who wast deemed worthy to be a figure of Christ.

Ἐν κοιλίᾳ ἔνδοξε, τριημερεύσας τοῦ κήτους, τοῦ Χριστοῦ τὴν κάθοδον, τοῖς ἐν τῷ Ἅδῃ προφαίνεις· πάθος γάρ, δεχθεὶς σαρκὶ ἑκὼν ὁ Δεσπότης, ἔλαμψεν, ἀπὸ τοῦ μνήματος τριημέρως· διὰ τοῦτό σε Προφῆτα, ὡς τύπον τούτου, Ἰωνᾶ μέλπομεν.
