O Lord, save Thy people/ and bless Thine inheritance./ Grant victory over their enemies to Orthodox Christians,/ and protect Thy people with Thy Cross.

Troparion of St EUSTATHIUS and those with him — Tone 1
O glorious Eustathius, thou wast hunted from heaven/ and captured by Him Who appeared as a deer./ Together with thy wife and sons thou wast tempted and didst triumph in contests./ Thou dost gladden those who cry:/ Glory to Christ Who glorified thee; glory to Him Who crowned thee;/glory to Him Who proved thee to be a second John.

Troparion of St EUSTATHIUS and those with him — Tone 4
Your holy martyr Eustáthius and his wife and sons, O Lord, / through their sufferings have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. / For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, / and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. / Through their intercessions, save our souls!

O glorious Theopiste,
You were hunted from heaven and captured in the net of faith.
Together with your husband and sons
You were tested and tempted but triumphed in contest.
You gladden those who cry to you:
Glory to Christ who glorified you!

In their sufferings, O Lord,/ Thy martyrs received imperishable crowns from Thee our God;/ for, possessed of Thy might,/ they set at nought the tormentors and crushed the feeble audacity of the demons.// By their supplications save Thou our souls.

Ἀγρευθεῖς οὐρανόθεν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν ἔνδοξε, τῇ τοῦ σοὶ ὀφθέντος δυνάμει, δι’ ἐλάφου Εὐστάθιε, ποικίλους καθυπέστης πειρασμούς, καὶ ἤστραψας ἐν ἄθλοις ἱεροῖς, σὺν τῇ θείᾳ σου συμβίω καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς, φαιδρύνων τοὺς βοῶντάς σοι. Δόξα τῷ σὲ δοξάσαντι Χριστῷ, δόξα τῷ σὲ στεφανώσαντι, δόξα τῷ δείξαντί σε ἐν παντί, Ἰὼβ παμμάκαρ δεύτερον.

You fulfilled your lives as martyrs,/ were adorned with the crowns of confession and ascended into heaven./ O wise Michael and brave Theodore,/ pray to Christ our God to have mercy on your fatherland/ and on all Orthodox Christians.

Apolytikion of St JOHN the Hermit ― Tone 1
The offspring of Crete and the prize of ascetics, founder of many churches, let us faithful honor the Venerable John with hymns, crying out to him harmoniously: Glory to Christ Who glorified you, glory to Him Who works wonders through you, glory to Him who through you works healings for all.

Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ὅσιος ἸΩΆΝΝΗΣ ὁ Θεοφόρος ― Ἦχος α’. Τῆς ἐρήμου πολίτης
Τῶν Κρητῶν τὸν φωστῆρα Ἐκκλησίας τὸ καύχημα, καὶ τῶν Μοναζόντων τὴν στάθμην, Ἰωάννην τιμήσωμεν· Χριστοῦ γὰρ τὸν Σταυρὸν ἀναλαβών, ὡς ἄγγελος ἐβίωσεν ἐν γῇ· διὰ τοῦτο ἐκ κινδύνων παντοδαπῶν, λυτροῦται τοὺς κραυγάζοντας· δόξα τῷ δεδωκότι σοι ἰσχύν, δόξα τῷ σὲ στεφανώσαντι, δόξα τῷ ἐνεργοῦντι διὰ σοῦ, πᾶσιν ἰάματα.

Gifted with wisdom, brilliantly adorned, a most-inspired shepherd, of the Church of Christ, you were seen to be O Eustathios; wherefore Thessaloniki, your holy flock, blesses you with hymns and harmoniously cries out: Entreat Christ God on our behalf Venerable Father.

Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ἅγιος ΕὐΣΤΆΘΙΟΣ ὁ Κατάφλωρος ― Ἦχος δ’. Ταχὺ προκατάλαβε
Σοφίας τοῖς χάρισι, κεκοσμημένος λαμπρῶς, ποιμὴν ἐνθεώτατος, τῆς Ἐκκλησίας Χριστοῦ, ἐδείχθης Εὐστάθιε· ὅθεν Θεσσαλονίκη, ἡ ἁγία σου ποίμνη, ὕμνοις σὲ μακαρίζει καὶ συμφώνως βοᾶ σοι. Ἱκέτευε Χριστὸν τὸν Θεόν, ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν Πάτερ Ὅσιε.

With ascetic living you subdued the adversary, with struggles you divinely glorified Christ the Life-giver, therefore Venerable Martyr Hilarion, we entreat you to pray to God for those who honor you, for their forgiveness and healing of body and soul.

All in Messinia venerate their boast, your wonderworking Icon of Voulkaniotissa O Lady, sprouting abundant gifts, of heavenly graces to the faithful, and fleeing quickly from everywhere to your monastery, with longing they boast in you. Glory to your wonders Pure One, glory to your divine protection, glory to you Immaculate One for the care you show to us.


EXALTATION OF THE CROSS of the Feast Kontakion — Tone 4
O Christ our God/ Who wast voluntarily lifted up on the Cross,/ grant Thy mercies to Thy new people named after Thee./ Gladden with Thy power Orthodox Christians/ and give them victory over their enemies./ May they have as an ally/ that invincible trophy, Thy weapon of peace.

Thou didst follow Christ's Passion, Eustathius,/ and willingly drank His chalice./ Thou art also fellow-heir to His glory/ and hast received from Him heavenly power.

Having openly imitated the Passion of Christ, / and having eagerly drunk of His cup, O Eustáthius, / you became a partaker and fellow heir of His glory, / receiving divine forgiveness from on high from the God of all.

O Holy Theopiste,
You were an imitator of Christ in His passion;
You drank of His cup with courage and became a partake of His glory:

Despising earthly dominion thou didst abandon fame as transient./ Thou didst enter the contests and proclaim the Trinity before thy tormentors, strong Michael and brave Theodore./ As you stand before the King of Angels pray for your fatherland and Orthodox Christians,/ that we may ever venerate you.

Venerable One, as a great star of the island of Crete which is enlightened by the rays of your miracles, we cry out to you: Save O John those who with faith honor your memory.

Κοντάκιον. Ὅσιος ἸΩΆΝΝΗΣ ὁ Θεοφόρος― Ἦχος δ’. Ἐπεφάνης σήμερον
Ἐν τῇ Κρήτῃ ἔλαμψας ὡς ἑωσφόρος, Ἰωάννη Ὅσιε, καταφωτίζων ἱερῶς, ταῖς ἐναρέτοις σου πράξεσι, τοὺς ἀδιστάκτῳ ψυχῇ προσιόντας σοι.

With tears of repentance you were reconciled with the Lord. In the arena of martyrdom you defeated the one who wounded you. You were fully distinguished by the pains of abstinence and bravely accepted martyrdom for Christ. And for this, Hilarion, you were worthy of pure glory.

Your mighty hand, Lady Voulkaniotissa, do not take away from us who call upon you, for your many hymn-worthy miracles, but as you saved in olden times the people of Messinia, grant also unto us each day that which is beneficial, who cry unto you: Rejoice the help of all.


Μεγαλυνάριον. Ἅγιος ΕὐΣΤΆΘΙΟΣ καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ
Οὐρανόθεν μάκαρ καταυγασθείς, στήλη τῆς ἀνδρείας, ἀνεδείχθης ἐν πειρασμοῖς, καὶ πανοικεσίᾳ, Εὐστάθιε ἀθλήσας, τῆς ἄνω βασιλείας, ἀξίως ἔτυχες.

Megalynarion of St JOHN the Hermit
Rejoice, divine offspring of Crete, and the help and guardian of those in monasteries; rejoice, Venerable John, the divine founder of the Monastery of Myriokephalos.

Μεγαλυνάριον. Ὅσιος ἸΩΆΝΝΗΣ ὁ Θεοφόρος
Ἅπασαν τὴν Κρήτην διαδραμών, πανταχοῦ ἐδείμω, τῷ Σωτῆρι θείους ναούς· σεαυτὸν γὰρ Πάτερ, ναὸν προκατειργάσω, τῆς Τρισηλίου δόξης, βίου λαμπρότητι.

Megalynarion of St HILARION
Rejoice, divine offspring of Heraklion, participant of Venerable Martyrs. You shone brightly in asceticism and struggle, and accepted the incorruptible crown from the Lord.
