HOLY MARTYR EVPLOS THE DEACON
ST NEPHON II ― Patriarch of Constantinople
Holy New Martyrs ANASTASIOS and DEMETRIOS the Basketweavers
Great Miracle of St SPYRIDON
Troparion of the Feast — Tone 7
Thou wast transfigured on the mount, O Christ God,/ revealing Thy glory to Thy disciples as far as they could bear it./ Let Thine everlasting light shine upon us sinners/ through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Giver of Light, glory to Thee.

Troparion of St EVPLOS — Tone 4
As a holy deacon, a righteous minister of the Church of Christ,/ thou didst contend superbly./ Thou didst sail over the sea of many torments and afflictions,/ O all-blessed Evplos./ Guide us into the haven of heaven.

Troparion of St EVPLOS — Tone 4
As a holy deacon and righteous minister of the Church of Christ, / You contended superbly. / You sailed over the sea of many torments and afflictions, / O all-blessed Euplus. / Guide us into the haven of heaven.

Troparion of St EVPLOS — Tone 4
In his suffering, O Lord,/ Thy martyr Euplus received an imperishable crown from Thee, our God;/ for, possessed of Thy might,/ he set at nought his tormenters, and crushed the feeble audacity of the demons.// Through his supplications, save Thou our souls.

Apolytikion of St NEPHON II — Tone 3
Your works shined, of piety, you illumined all, in the Church, elevating the ways of humility, glorifying Athos by your asceticism, bestowing beauty on the Patriarchs. Glorious Nephon, fill with divine grace, the faithful who magnify you with longing.

Apolytikion of Martyrs ANASTASIOS and DEMETRIOS — Tone 3
Divine saplings of the island of Lesvos, manifested in these latter times, Anastasios and Demetrios, of one mind you contested for Christ, and you put to shame the ancient enemy. New Martyrs, intercede with Christ God, to grant us the great mercy.

Kontakion of St SPYRIDON — Tone 2
Wounded by your love for Christ, O holy one, your mind given wings by the radiance of the Spirit, you put the practice of theory into deeds, becoming a sacred altar, O Chosen by God, and praying for the divine illumination of all.

Kontakion of the Feast — Tone 7
Thou wast transfigured on the mountain, O Christ our God,/ and Thy disciples beheld Thy glory as far as they were capable,/ that when they should see Thee crucified,/ they might know that Thy suffering was voluntary/ and might proclaim to the world/ that Thou art indeed the reflection of the Father.

Kontakion of St EVPLOS — Tone 1
Thou didst bear in thy hands the law of Christ/ and cry to thine enemies in the stadium:/ I am coming willingly to contest most steadfastly./ Then thou didst gladly finish thy course by bending thy neck to the sword.

Kontakion of St EVPLOS — Tone 1
When the love of Christ was your only defense, / You stood in the midst of your fight and said: / I endure this struggle willingly and with confidence! / You rejoiced, O Euplus, to offer your head to the sword and so complete your course!

Kontakion of St EVPLOS — Tone 1 "The choir of the angels..."
Holding the laws of Christ in thy hand,/ thou didst stand before the enemy in the arena, crying out:/ "I have called myself to suffer steadfastly!"/ Wherefore, joyfully bowing thy neck,// thou didst undergo beheading by the sword, finishing thy course.
